Daryl Sharpe

It all started with Janet and John. I suspect for many people of my age, it was the same. I can't pinpoint when my love of reading actually started, but the Enid Blyton had a lot to do with it. I carefully saved my pocket money and bought all twenty one of the Famous Five books, one at a time. They were my escape.

Writing stories came at around 12, when a certain nun gave me top marks in a writing challenge. Not only could I read about other worlds, but now I could create them! It became my passion.

Many many years of life getting in the way, and yes I kick myself for not sticking with it, I'm back and I'm going nowhere.. not until that that last full stop, on the last page of this life has been laid.

Why Daryl Sharpe? I decided on the name because my mother had seen fit to give me the name Daryl, but sent my dad to register me, and he disagreed and put it as my middle name instead. I suspect he paid dearly for that although obviously I was too young to notice.

As for my last name, many times I've been told 'you're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day'. Well this is me 'cutting myself', in a literary sense only I hasten to add.
